Foundation President receives $10,000 National “Share Some” Award
Gift will provide scholarships for therapy and equipment for children with special needs
A newly formed national foundation has recognized a newly formed local foundation. Mr. Ernie Symanski of The Share Some Foundation (www.sharesome.org) made his way to Alpharetta from Englewood, New Jersey for a quick visit on December 19th. He came down for the day to present Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation founder Brett R. DeVore with a $10,000 award through The Share Some Foundation. Brett was nominated by his wife and co-founder of Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation, Nell, for this national award.
A foundation organized by Dale and Thomas Popcorn (www.daleandthomas.com), The Share Some Foundation promotes the concept of sharing by acknowledging and encouraging others to share as much of themselves as possible. Their vision is by sharing their time, knowledge, friendship, money and enthusiasm with others, they hope to lead the movement by having those that have been shared with, share some with others.
The Share Some Foundation is dedicated to changing the way the world views sharing. They are committed to continually expressing the importance of charity and giving. Their goal is to seek out the “best of the best” when it comes to sharing and in return they will donate $10,000 in their name, to the non-profit charitable organization of their choice.
Newly Formed Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation Receives $10,000 Donation from Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta
With shared goals of enhancing the lives of children with special needs, the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta (DSAA) yesterday donated $10,000 to the newly formed nonprofit, Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation. DSAA raised funds through its Buddy Walk and silent auction held on October 13th, 2007.
“Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation partnered with us to promote and participate in this year’s Buddy Walk, and with their involvement, we raised more than we anticipated,” says DSAA Executive Director Michelle Norweck. “Our board believes strongly in what Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation is trying to accomplish, and they voted to donate the $10,000 as ‘kick-off’ to the foundation’s scholarship program.”
Granted 501(c)(3) status in September 2007, the mission of the Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation is to help families afford quality therapy and services for their children with special needs through scholarship assistance and financial support. Brett DeVore, founder of Kiddos’ Clubhouse, a pediatric therapy center for children with special needs such as autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other physical and learning disabilities, established the nonprofit after seeing a gap in funding resources for his patients.
“The Kiddos’ Clubhouse staff spends countless hours talking with insurance companies and Medicaid trying to get them to cover much needed therapies. We have watched as family after family is forced to stop therapy because they simply cannot afford to pay for it without financial assistance,” says DeVore.
“The Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation recognizes that not all families have the financial means to obtain medically required therapy for their children with special needs. With the resources the foundation provides, and this generous gift from DSAA, we can help families continue critical therapies, relieve unnecessary financial burdens, and regain hope for their children,” says DeVore.
The Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation will be awarding the first scholarships in the first quarter of 2008.
