Message from Brett DeVore

As a pediatric occupational therapist, my mission has always been to help shape better lives for children with special needs.

Several years ago, while working in a large children’s hospital, I realized that a more personal approach to therapy could significantly help the children I was treating and their families. So keeping true to my mission, in 2001, I founded TOTS, Inc. (Traveling Occupational Therapy Services) to provide in-home therapies for children with special-needs.

After a few years, a growing caseload and a desire to give the children the best care possible inspired me to open Kiddos’ Clubhouse, a place where children and their parents gain the confidence and motivation to believe that the children can do anything they set their mind to do. Opened in June 2005 and led by a team of the best occupational, physical, and speech therapists in metro Atlanta, Kiddos’ Clubhouse incorporates an atmosphere of caring, trust, and fun into therapy sessions.

In fact, MANY families lack the financial means to get the treatment their children need, even with government benefits and insurance coverage. Most insurance companies provide only 20 visits per discipline per year - simply not enough to make a difference. Medicaid may cover additional services for some children, however, due to decreased benefits and increased paperwork, the number of therapists accepting Medicaid is rapidly declining.

Under these circumstances, I realized I must take action in order to remain true to my mission. In the spring of 2007, I established the Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation. In alignment with my personal mission, the foundation’s mission is to provide financial support and scholarship assistance to help more families afford quality care and services for their children with special needs - this includes ALL children, not just those who come to Kiddos’ Clubhouse. With the resources Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation provides, we can help families continue critical therapies, relieve unnecessary financial burdens, and regain hope for their children.
